The Painkillers Are Wearing Off…
A while ago one of my back teeth cracked and the back half of it fell off… There was some pain but a couple of days later it was all good (lot’s of Anadin Ultra joy to pass the time away). No need to bother a [tag]dentist[/tag]…
About a month ago a particularly vicious apple brought the other half (before the gum line) out whilst I was at work… there was blood but no pain and the gum appeared to be mending okay… so no dentist required again.
Yesterday, the throbbing began… just a little bit, so a couple of painkillers sorted that out. Then, as I woke up this morning to a grey and blustery world I ‘tongued’ the site of yesterday’s pain to see if it was all okay… and… owwwwww… Now, the pain only disappears when I have more of the green liquid filled angels of joy… So I started phoning round dentists, trembling slightly. I hate them. Bad experiences in the past (I had a wisdom tooth out and bled for about 8 hours afterwards) do not a happy patient make!
No one in this area takes [tag]NHS[/tag] patients anymore so I know it is going to cost a fortune. The price at the moment for an extraction seems to be about £250-£350… and that doesn’t include any ‘after-care’ I may require. I am wondering if this counts as an emergency… but then it involves a trip to the hospital… I really don’t like hospitals (I don’t have a lot of luck with medical practioners of any kind).
At the moment I am considering a pair of pliers and a bottle of gin.

Vodka’s usually the drink of choice in such situations.
Nothing would please me more right now than to get horribly drunk and take out the whole left side of my face with a hammer…
